Modern cars all have an ECU (Engine Control Unit), which is essentially the car’s brain.

The ECU collects information from sensors within the engine so that it can then add the right amount of fuel, at the right time, to achieve the best fuel economy, performance and emission control. Manufacturers use a standard ECU map, but every engine should really have its own unique map, matched to the needs of the driver.

At Vulcan Motor Engineering, we’ve invested heavily in our dealer-level diagnostics suite, which means our team can safely adjust this map and fine-tune the characteristics of the engine, increasing the power and reducing fuel consumption. As a Bosch Service Centre, we also have access to remote support for any diagnostics we do not have in-house and we can perform software updates and reprogram existing modules for most makes and models.
